About

Praxis N16 Ltd has been supporting artists by providing and maintaining shared studio space in Stoke Newington for over two decades.

Established as a non-profit organisation supported by the registered charity Artcore International, our main purpose is to provide affordable and flexible workspace for local creatives working in a range of disciplines.

Praxis N16 Ltd was started by a group of friends who converted the first floor of a Victorian warehouse on Belfast Road from a garment factory into artist studios, a recording studio, and a workshop.

Our large flexible workshop space is used as a build space and for events such as Open Studios. The workshop space can be hired out for photoshoots, film shoots, prop making, and set design. The space is naturally lit and has access to a shared yard.

Praxis fosters community, encouraging collaboration between studio users, as well as promoting, maintaining, and improving engagement with the arts through strong links to our diverse local community.  All of our 16 studio spaces have natural light and are occupied by a variety of creatives including illustrators, painters, screen printers, furniture makers, filmmakers, composers, musicians, street artists, and sculptors. All of our studio members have access to a number of communal spaces including a kitchen/dining room, roof garden, yard, and workshop.

Over the past 24 years, Praxis has hosted public exhibitions, performances, live music events, and lectures for people of all ages and backgrounds. Part of our ambition is to improve engagement and foster a broader appreciation of the arts. We host bi-annual Open Studios, a popular event that is well attended by our local and creative communities.
