Katsura Washitani
Katsura Washitani is a Japanese painter based in Stoke Newington, London. She paints landscapes from random snaps, google maps and sometimes just imagination. Oil paint gives her the most joy and excitement as there are many surprises and realisations while painting with them. When putting a layer over a different colour, when they are wet or dry, thick or thin, when mixing colours, their appearance and texture are often unexpected. Landscapes she creates are slightly abstract and unreal as a result of her playing with paints.
Her past exhibitions include Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition, group show at Tokyo Arts and Space.
